Fortress enters early access
Two years of hex math, one very stubborn combat system, and a board we rebuilt four times. Fortress is playable now.
Hold the line. Grow stronger together.

A hex-board strategy game where pieces grow stronger beside their allies and every exchange resolves at once. No captures by movement — only pressure, position, and the fortress you build.
About
Fortress is a turn-based strategy game played on a 75-hex board. You move two pieces per turn, and nothing is captured by moving. Instead, adjacent enemies trade damage simultaneously the moment you commit — so every placement is a bet you make before you know the answer.
Strength is positional. A piece standing beside its allies reinforces, gaining the power it needs to survive the exchange. Break a formation apart and it withers; hold it together and it becomes a wall that grinds down anything that touches it.
Push a piece into the enemy's back rank and it promotes into a Tower or a Turret — the tools you need to crack a dug-in opponent. The game ends one way: the enemy Keep falls.
Systems
The mechanics below aren't features bolted on top of Fortress. They are the game.
01
Damage resolves for both sides at once after you accept a turn. Trades are mutual, and a winning attack can still cost you the piece that made it.
02
Pieces draw strength from adjacent allies. Formation is the whole game — spread thin and you break, stacked tight and you hold.
03
Every turn you move two pieces, which means every turn you make two commitments. The Keep can spend both on itself when it has to run.
04
Reach the opponent's back three hexes and choose your upgrade: a Tower that anchors ground, or a Turret that reaches past the front line.
05
Matchmaking with ELO ratings, casual queues, private rooms for friends, and a full match history you can replay.
06
Easy, Normal, and Hard opponents built on minimax search — enough to learn the systems, and enough to punish you when you stop paying attention.
